Missing left arm and the art of winning!
Dear Friends:
This would be a short post, which is very different than whatever I have been writing on this blog so far. I heard this on a radio this morning and feel like sharing with you.
There was this little boy, who lost his left hand in an accident while he was just 10. He always wanted to learn Judo, so he decided to search for a teacher, who can teach him a Judo. He found one, who was willing to discount his one hand and teach him the art. The training started. The teacher taught him just one move and asked him to practice. He practiced the move to the perfection and went back to teacher to learn more moves. Teacher said that he needed only one move to learn and that’s it. Bit skeptical but he still believed his master and continued his practice.
One day teacher took him to a national Judo championship to participate in the matches. He obeyed his teacher and participated. In his first match, he won. In his second match, he won too! Surprised by his winning, he continued the other matches and reached final.
Final was supposed to be tough one. The opponent was well built and a master of all moves. During fight at one stage it looked as if this boy is going to lose and when referee discovered that the match is becoming one sided, he announced a break.
The teacher intervened and requested referee to continue with the match. The opponent lost his guard for a moment and our boy used that one move he mastered and won the match. He became the national champ!
On his return they were discussing about the matches and how he performed. Now, the boy could not control his curiosity and finally asked his teacher, how can I win all the matches with just one move?
The teacher replied, “That one move is the most difficult throw in the Judo and the only defense to that move is to grab your opponent’s left hand!”
Do I need say more?
Take care.
