Is BJP emerging as Bharatiya Jhagada Party?

They say politics is a dirty business. I work with politicians of all sizes and shapes. Few years back, I had a pleasure to work with BJP as well. Yes! You read me absolutely correct, it was indeed a pleasure working with BJP. The party was indeed a party with a difference and not as a party with ‘differences’ as it is now. There was a discipline in the cadre and a vision in leadership. I worked with congress and few other parties as well but the professionalism I found in BJP was missing with many of them.I no longer work with them, hence I can’t really pinpoint what went wrong within the party but there is definitely something, which is not working for them. The strategists at BJP HQ are surely missing something or seems to have forgotten their skills. The election debacle has led them to spiraling crisis and they have failed time and again to come across as people with command on situation. I am sure my congress friends are really happy at this point of time. I think the debate over the success or failure of Pokhran II is also one such discussion strategised by someone in congress! Finally, congress seems to getting what they always wanted – NO OPPOSITION. They are out to prove that there is no alternative to congress and BJP is surely helping their cause.
What started as a ‘red-herring strategy’ to divert attention from the real cause of election fiasco has turned into ugly battle between key individuals in BJP today. They immediately need some help. In my personal opinion, they have some of the best crisis managers & communicators. Where are they? Or their silence is also planned? I think, it’s time now for BJP to prepare for the next election and work on the strategies immediately. I would like to see our country with only two or may be just three political parties and not 1000s of them mushrooming at every nook and corner.
What BJP should do?
- Accept the problem & communicate openly within the party and to the public
- Work as a team and share responsibility rather than pointing fingers at each other – sentences like ‘We lost because of Mr. Modi’ or ‘We lost because of Varun’ are strict NO NO
- Focus on something constructive – at the end of the day, people vote for you because they need to see you working
- Let new leaders come to center stage & take organisational responsibilities
The writing is on the wall. Brand BJP need to revive itself. Get back to the original fabric of Bharatiya Janata Party and start working towards a common goal of winning hearts of people with genuine work and votes will follow.
Take care.
